Elementary and Middle School Compete in State Battle of the Books!

As-Sabeel Elementary and Middle School students had the opportunity again this year to participate in an after school Book Club.  In book club, students read from a list of 20 books and meet every two weeks to discuss the books and practice answering questions about them.  Then in January, they compete against other schools at the SCISA Regional Battle of the Books competition.

As-Sabeel Academy hosting one of the regional competitions for the second year in a row.  There are a total of four regionals held across the state, and only the six teams with the most points from all regionals quality for the State competition.  Alhamdulilah, both our Elementary and Middle School teams qualified for State.

The State Battle of the Books competition was help on January 23rd at Thomas Sumter Academy.  As-Sabeel students performed very well, although neither team ended up with a trophy.  In the end, all book club participants are winners, gaining valuable skills as they read and competed.  We are very proud of them!
